Community Outreach

Ventura County Ballet is committed to the dual purpose of creating great art for the community and developing local talent through our performing and training programs. As the only professional ballet company serving the West Ventura County area, we bring together international and national ballet artists with talented pre-professional dancers in diverse settings and programs, including classical, neoclassical and contemporary. Our goal is to expose both the community and young artists of all backgrounds to the wide world of dance. We nurture young dancers as well as aspiring musicians, composers and choreographers.

Our performances frequently feature live music – from a solo musician to a chorale or symphony orchestra. Experiencing live music is important to the growth of young dancers and a delight to our audiences of all ages.

Ventura County Ballet typically produces five full-length Nutcracker performances a season, a biennial full-length Spring show and up to three intimate performances of diverse works. In addition, we annually conduct a range of free outreach events at venues such as the VCMC pediatric oncology clinic, Boys and Girls Club, The Collection at River Park and an in-theatre interactive Nutcracker performance for elementary students. Other educational programming has included work with children in the Ventura County foster care system, CASA Pacifica and the Boswell School.
