Our Mission

From our founding in 1998 to today, Ventura County Ballet is committed to expanding awareness and enjoyment of ballet in ways accessible to all. Through annual educational programs for thousands of children in local schools, outreach events, community partnerships, scholarships and free tickets, we bring live dance to underserved children, senior citizens and other populations who otherwise could not experience the joy of dance.

Our dual purpose is creating great art for the community and developing local talent through our performing and training programs. We bring together international and national ballet artists with talented pre-professional dancers in diverse settings and programs, including classical, neoclassical and contemporary. Our goal is to expose both the community and young artists of all backgrounds to the wide world of dance. We nurture young dancers as well as aspiring musicians, composers and choreographers.

As a result, our young company members have been accepted to and received scholarships from intensive ballet training programs at School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Washington Ballet, and State Street Ballet as well as prestigious college dance programs at Butler University, Marymount College, University of Indiana and the University of California at Irvine, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles They have also joined highly regarded professional dance companies including San Francisco Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Monte Carlo Ballet and San Diego Ballet.

We frequently collaborate with other non-profit arts organizations, inspiring innovation and expanding audiences.  Our partners include the Museum of Ventura County, the Ventura Music Festival, the Ventura County Master Chorale, the New West Symphony, Namba Performing Arts Space, Ventura College Orchestra and more.

Our aspiring dancers train at Ballet Academy Ventura, the official school of Ventura County ballet. For more information, please visit https://balletacademyventura.com/
